Situated in Malta, long considered a major maritime crossroads, Grand Harbour Marina was one of the Mediterranean’s largest purpose-built superyacht marinas when it opened in 2002. It offers 50 berths for yachts of 25 to 100 metres LOA, 225 pontoon berths and additional moorings for locally owned craft.
Added value:
- A true urban renewal scheme with the transformation of derelict commercial quays into pleasant waterfront promenades
- Increased berthing tariffs by an average 13% per annum since 2005
- An uplift to local property values
- Best utilisation of available water area
- Luxury facilities developed in and around the marina
- Berth design centred around providing maximum operational flexibility
- Proud host marina to the Rolex Middle Sea Race, and Trophée Bailli de Suffren
Capital cost and financial implications:
- Repair and embellishment of existing quaysides (former naval base)
- Use of flexible pontoon moorings, otherwise reducing piling cost in deep water
- Ability to create additional berths, at reduced cost
